    Monday, the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, was a good day to be part of Team USA.

    In the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Team Finals, the team led by Chicago’s Paul Juda, Asher Hong, Brody Malone, Stephen Nedoroscik and Fredrick Richard captured their first medal in eight years after taking bronze. Meanwhile, the U.S. women’s basketball team dominated on the court, capturing an unprecedented eighth straight gold medal.

    Individual athletes also performed well.

    South Suburbs native Ryan Murphy won bronze in the men’s 100m backstroke, while fencer Nick Itkin won a bronze medal in the men’s individual foil event.



    American gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik says he was glad to be the last gymnast with a medal on the line. Hear from him and his teammates after the U.S. won bronze in the team event.

    On Monday morning, Team USA’s medal count stood at 12. By Monday evening, that number had risen to 20, with nine bronze, eight silver and three gold.

    Japan tops the list with the total number of gold medals, which is six, and the total number of medals stands at twelve.

    More medals could flow in for the US on Tuesday, with key events on the Olympic program including the women’s gymnastics team finals, swimming, surfing and rugby.
