    Daytona Beach Friday Weather Update

    Cars will be on the track at Daytona International Speedway in a few hours. First up is NASCAR Xfinity Series and Cup Series qualifying this afternoon. Then comes the Wawa 250 race at 7:30 tonight, before the Coke Zero Sugar 400 Saturday night.

    That’s the plan anyway.

    Will Mother Nature approve of this?

    NASCAR was plagued by rain in Michigan last week, delaying Sunday’s FireKeepers Casino 400 by more than two hours and getting involved again after 51 laps, moving the remaining 149 to Monday.

    Daytona Beach is no stranger to precipitation this time of year. Since 1999, eight of Daytona’s 25 summer races have been postponed, shortened or postponed due to inclement weather.

    Saturday: A 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 8 AM. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. New rainfall amounts of a quarter to a half inch possible.

    Saturday evening: 30% chance of rain and thunderstorms, mainly before 02:00. Mostly cloudy, with a minimum temperature around 24 degrees. Wind from the east-northeast at 8 to 16 km/h, in the evening light wind.

    Sunday: Chance of showers and thunderstorms, then likely showers and possibly thunderstorms after 2:00 PM. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

    Sunday evening: Showers and thunderstorms likely before 23:00, then a small chance of showers between 23:00 and 02:00. Mostly cloudy, with a minimum temperature around 24 degrees. East-northeast wind around 8 km/h, calmer in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

    All Xfinity and Cup Series qualifying rounds and the Wawa 250 will be broadcast on USA Network.

    When is the Coke Zero Sugar 400?

    The Coke Zero Sugar 400 takes place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Daytona International Speedway. NBC will broadcast the race, with coverage from MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
