WNBA fans were left extremely upset with Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever teammates after a horrific accident early in Sunday’s game against the Seattle Storm.

In the opening minutes of their meeting, the rookie sensation drew several defenders out of the paint, creating space for teammate Kelsey Mitchell to run to an open basket.

They appeared to be on the same page when Clark bounced the pass to Mitchell for a chance to score Indiana’s first points. However, with no defender in sight, Mitchell missed the layup as the ball bounced out of the rim.

Fans took to social media to criticize Mitchell for the blunder, while others went so far as to claim that Clark is carrying the team’s burden.

“Caitlin Clark’s teammates aren’t real buddies,” one person wrote with a crying-laughing emoji. “She has to do it herself.”

“You have to finish this! What a dime from Caitlin Clark,” a third chimed in.

Still, the Fever managed to take a one-point lead at halftime, leading 35-34 over their guests from the Pacific Northwest.

Clark converted her eight points with two assists and two rebounds in the first two games of the game.

Mitchell, however, made up for her early fumble and led the Fever in scoring with 11 points.

Lexie Hull also came in as a substitute and gave Indiana ten points in twelve minutes.

The Fever are currently seventh in the league and third in the Eastern Conference with a record of 12-15.

Clark is directly competing with his college rival Angel Reese for the title of Rookie of the Year.
