My analysis
This slide by the Las Vegas Aces began just before the long season hiatus when this Chicago Sky team defeated them. They recently lost both sides of a home and away game against the Lynx.

The highest-scoring team in the WNBA, at 87.3 points per game, the Aces haven’t been able to overcome their defensive woes. During this losing streak, they’ve allowed 89.3 points per game. Their opponents are hitting a blistering 47.7% from the field, which, in this small sample, would be the worst field goal defense in the league.

The drop has seen them drop to fifth in the overall standings, one game behind the Storm – and home advantage in Round 1.

The Sky have their problems, too. They are just one game ahead of the Dream for the eighth and final playoff spot and have won just two of their last seven games. They were crushed 86-68 in Phoenix, before a narrow 82-80 loss to the Sun the previous game.

This is a bottom 3 team at 78.8 points per game, but the defense is in the top 6 in the W and has allowed 85.1 points per game during this slump, almost 4 points more than they have allowed all season.

The Aces dominated this matchup, with the Sky’s most recent win ending a Vegas eight-game head-to-head win streak. Still, Vegas’ recent play doesn’t justify a 7.5-point spread or a -340 price on the moneyline.

Instead, we’ll focus on the Over, who have won seven of their last 10 matchups. The two teams have gone past that 166.5-point mark in both of their previous matchups this season, breaking the 170-point plateau each time.

While it’s almost a given at this point that Reese will reach double figures, the 13.5 rebound line set for Sunday seems a tad too high. The Aces are the best defensive rebounding team in the league and have the league’s second-leading rebounder in A’ja Wilson. In two previous games, Vegas has held Reese to 11 and 10 boards

Speaking of Wilson, she’s only scored 27+ points once since returning from the Olympics, but we’re taking her Over today because of her work against the Sky. Last meeting, she went for 28 points and 14 rebounds, including 10 trips to the free throw line.

In their game on June 26, she scored 31 points and grabbed six rebounds, making 10 of 19 field goals and also making 12 free throws.
