Amazon’s new Alexa AI subscription service could launch in mid-October.

The After Amazon.com, citing internal documents, said voice assistant upgrades could include daily “Smart Briefing,” AI-generated news summaries to drive more “recurring engagement.” Other features, such as asking users about their preferences and tracking Amazon product sales, could also help Amazon reverse losses in its devices business.

The documents also state that Project Metis, Amazon’s alleged web-based ChatGPT competitor, could coincide with its launch.
