CHICAGO (CBS) — Caitlin Clark’s show makes its second and final stop in Chicago this season, while fellow rookie Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky present Indiana Fever.

Friday night’s game between the WNBA’s top two rookies is driving a new spike in ticket sales, making it the most sought-after WNBA game of the season.

According to ticketing technology company Logitix, the average ticket price for the game is $385.71. That’s by far the highest price for a WNBA game this season, as fans flock to see stars Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark square off on the court again.

That’s up from the average ticket price of $280.43 when Sky and Fever last faced off in June.

According to Logitix, all five of the highest average ticket prices in the WNBA this season have been for Sky and/or Fever games.

Another sold-out crowd will become part of WNBA history for the team’s inaugural Barbie Night, with the first 2,000 fans receiving a fanny pack or Hawaiian shirt.

Tension is high at Wintrust Arena, where seats were covered in pink Barbie rally towels reading “You can be anything” during the final regular season game between Sky and Fever.

It is a crucial match for both teams as they try to make the play-offs.

Much like Reese and Clark’s rookie seasons, the three other meetings between Sky and Fever this season lived up to expectations, with a combined 10-point difference.

The Fever are in 7th place. The Sky are in 8th place and currently occupy the last playoff spot with 10 games to go. Friday will be an emotional night, but the Sky will go into it with a calm feeling.

“It’s about being ready. It’s about being ready and what comes with that. That’s the most important thing. We understand the magnitude of every game we play, and that’s the most important thing. Our energy, our effort, our celebrations for each other are going to be important,” said head coach Teresa Weatherspoon.

Sky guard Lindsay Allen said the team is focused on Friday’s game.

“We’re not thinking about the big picture. Obviously that’s in the back of our minds, but we’re focused on winning this game and then moving on to the next game. We’re just focused on Indiana and what we can do to beat them tonight,” Sky guard Lindsay Allen said.

The Sky are looking to end a four-game losing streak against a Fever team that has gone 4-1 to start the second half of the season, with leading scorer Chennedy Carter out for the second straight game due to health and safety protocols.

Setting the tone early against a Fever attack that is running well is essential to avoid another tense match in the closing stages.

“They’re playing extremely well. We have to be a very disciplined basketball team, especially defensively. We have to be in the right places at the right time, and know what our schemes are, and stick to those schemes for 40 minutes,” Weatherspoon said.

Sisters surprised with Sky Fever tickets

For two sisters who dreamed of seeing Reese play in real life, their dream came true Friday night.

Jade and Joy Lee, 12 and 11, set up a lemonade stand in Roseland on Tuesday to raise $700 for tickets to Friday night’s game.

Now they have even more tickets.

Sky’s new mascot, Skye the Lioness, paid them a visit and made a special delivery, surprising them with tickets to the big match.

On Tuesday, philanthropist Early Walker gave Joy and Jade $2,000 for tickets, plus a limo ride to and from the game and a restaurant dinner.
