Matthew Gaudreau was about to become a father when he and his brother Johnny Gaudreau were fatally struck by a car in New Jersey.

The wife of the 29-year-old Madeline Gaudreau is currently pregnant with the couple’s first child, who will be named Trippaccording to a GoFundMe page set up by the family on August 30.

“We are deeply saddened to share the devastating news that the Gaudreau family has suffered a tragic and unimaginable loss,” the fundraiser description reads. “On August 29, 2024, a car accident took the lives of Matthew and his brother John.”

In a photo from a recent sister-in-law’s bachelorette party Katie GaudreauMadeline appeared to be holding her baby bump as she posed with the other guests.

Matthew and Johnny, 31, were riding their bicycles on a country road around 8 p.m. when they were struck from behind by a Jeep Grand Cherokee attempting to pass another vehicle, Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron from the New Jersey State Police in a statement to E! News.
