Kalen DeBoer had to wait a while before he could officially make his debut as coach of the Alabama American football team.

The game was delayed for about six minutes due to problems with Western Kentucky’s headset communications. Because the problem was still not resolved by kickoff, officials required Alabama’s coaching staff to remove their headsets until the problem was resolved.

It wouldn’t last long.

By the time Alabama led 7-0 on a touchdown run by QB Jalen Milroe, the first score of the DeBoer era, both coaches had put their headsets back on.
