Bobs, Bangs, and Updos from the ’90s: Beetlejuice Premiere Was Fall Hairstyle Gold

The Venice Film Festival kicked off this week with a Beetlejuice Beetlejuice bang—and hairdos galore. Cate Blanchett, Jenna Ortega, Winona Ryder, Taylor Russell, and Monica Bellucci arrived at the premiere in matching, eye-catching ensembles, but it was their hair that really made their looks.

There were bangs, bobs, ’90s up-dos, mid-lengths, and pixie crops — all styles that reflect our collective obsession with every hair trend. They also serve as great inspiration for fall, a time when many of us are updating our looks for the end of the year.

There was Ortega, her raven-black curtain bangs pulled back into a low, messy bun — face-framing bangs like this look just as good when worn up as they do when left down, making it a great style to try if you’re looking to add a little detail to your face. Blanchett rocked a tousled midi bob — ultra-flattering with her bare décolletage — while Bellucci’s mid-length crop was suitably loose and paired perfectly with oversized sunglasses.

Meanwhile, Ryder paired a feathery fringe with a theatrical ’90s-style fanned bun, perfect for the weird and wonderful world of Beetle juice—and Russell’s new pixie cut featured an elfin micro-fringe and a slight curl at the nape of her neck, a boyish style that took her cute features to the next level.

If the start of the film festival looks this good, it would be rude not to change your hairstyle in September. So choose your favorite.
