Three last-minute tips for your fantasy draft

Yahoo Fantasy analysts Dalton Del Don, Dan Titus and Scott Pianowski give their final advice for the 2024 fantasy football drafts.

Video transcript

My final piece of advice for this season’s draft is: make sure you get your players.

Each league has its own setting and a completely different type of drafting room.

It is therefore difficult to make a general recommendation.

Overall, I’m targeting running quarterbacks and a top-tier tight end this season. I’m also fine with getting an anchor back as soon as possible, but don’t worry too much about AD P and go after those guys.

You want more than anything.

My players this year include Breece Hall, Devon Aan Cooper Cup, Malik, neighbours Kenneth Walker and of course Anthony Richardson, but I will be wrong about a lot of players this year.

Predicting football is difficult.

So make sure you include the players in your draft that you wanted to target beforehand.

Good luck with your fantasy drafts in 2024.

My fantastic advice for you is to execute a heroic RB draft strategy.

This means that you will spend one of your choices from the first round.

That’s rounds one through three on a running back.

Why do I say you should do that when ZERO RB has been the hype for the past few seasons, especially given the amount of serviceable, productive pass catchers available in the early rounds.

Because after lap five and past the dead zone, things start to look ugly.

Don’t worry.

Don’t get frustrated trying to hit the jackpot by hitting that RB two.

That will eventually become a RB, who will gain more depth later in the draft.

This year, focus on signing one RB as the linchpin of your Fantasy team.

That way you can avoid the dead zone and select valuable players in the later rounds, because there are enough wide receivers available in those middle rounds. So you don’t have to become a wide receiver, tight end or quarterback right away.

Therefore, avoid the dead zone.

Make sure you have a hero.

RB.

People always ask me what’s the most important thing you need to know before you start building your fantasy draft roster?

What am I looking for?

I’ll tell you what you want.

You want the best wide receiver room in the league.

You want wide receivers who are starting themselves, because you don’t want to think from week to week, which wide receiver three or four, which fringe guy should I play?

Who’s coming to spike week?

Oh, this guy had three targets last week.

I’m not going to let him play, then he’ll be playing an important match.

This guy played an important game last week.

I’m not going to do that, I’m going to let him play and he has a week off.

You want receivers who start themselves and my Bills will usually be a running back.

I like that it can be around 123 or four.

It doesn’t matter.

I’m going to give the receivers incredible depth at the quarterback position.

You can perform well in any price range.

I’m getting a lot of love from Jordan this year.

That’s fine with me.

Trevor Lawrence is my number two QB in a lot of leagues.

That’s fine with me.

Maybe Jayden Daniels can break the game in soccer.

You don’t have to go all out as a quarterback, but receivers dry up quickly as running backs.

We all know that position is always chaotic, even the tight end.

I don’t think it’s that deep, but there are nine or ten and I feel good about them.

I can wait until the second wave comes.

I want you to have the best reception area in the league.

I want you to tweet me, whatever they call that platform, and share it with me, and we’ll ride off into the glorious sunset of a championship together, dominating the wide receiver position.

That’s where you need to be in 2024.
