Scottie Scheffler is a FedEx Cup champion.

After dominating the field all year, the 28-year-old wrote his name into the history books on Sunday afternoon by winning the TOUR Championship at East Lake in Atlanta.

Going into the tournament, Scheffler began the tournament at -10 and with a two-stroke lead, as he led all golfers in FedEx Cup points. That was more than enough for a lead, as Scheffler’s 264 strokes was the third-lowest, behind Collin Morikawa’s 262 and Sahith Theegala’s 263.

Scheffler had won the most prize money in the past two seasons, so big things were expected this year. But even Scheffler would probably tell you that this was beyond his imagination.

He started his season with four top-10 finishes in his first five tournaments, but then he stepped it up a gear.

His next five tournaments: win, win, T2, win, win. Those victories include the Arnold Palmer Invitational, The PLAYERS, the RBC Heritage and of course the Masters.

However, his season took a wild turn in May when he was arrested while en route to his second round of the PGA Championship at Valhalla. He spent time in a cell before casually shooting a 66 later in the day – he eventually finished T8 in the tournament.

Scheffler then won both the Memorial and Travelers in June and won Olympic gold in Paris last month.

Including the Olympics, Scheffler finished with eight wins, two runner-up finishes, 17 top-10s and zero missed cuts in 20 events. His seven wins in PGA events are the most since 2007.

With a $25 million payout from Sunday’s win, Scheffler’s winnings this season total $54,228,357, by far the most he has ever won in a single season.

For context, if 2024 Scottie Scheffler were his own player, it would be the 14th-highest career earnings ever. This year alone, Scheffler has won more money than guys like Rickie Fowler, Ernie Els, Davis Love III, Keegan Bradley and Steve Stricker have won in their entire careers.

With his win, Scheffler now ranks second all-time on the PGA career money leaderboard, surpassing Phil Mickelson.

Scheffler will once again turn his attention to the United States as he will represent the U.S. team against the International team in the Presidents Cup next month in Montreal.
