What Florida State Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell’s locker room speech reveals about FSU’s culture

Booing birds made themselves heard in Tallahassee on Monday night. State of Florida had a terrible first half against Boston Collegemainly on the offensive side. Mike Norvell’s team is down eight points at halftime, 14-8, as the home fans are not too happy with the performance in the first half.

Social media has been quick to troll Florida State, but at least some of their fans are confident they’ll leave Doak Campbell Stadium with a win. CBS Sports’ Danny Kanell believes the Seminoles will “settle down” before getting a much-needed victory.

“FSU is going to calm down and win this game,” Kanell said via X.

Early in the second half, Kanell’s prediction proves to be wrong. DJ Uiagalelei threw an interception on the team’s opening drive on fourth down, sending Boston College deep into the red zone. Soon after, the ball was pounded in, extending the lead to 15.

For Kanell to ultimately be proven right, a lot has to change — and fast. Florida State needs to settle down a bit, especially Uiagalelei, as he continues to struggle early in his tenure with the Seminoles.

Florida State fans chant for Brock Glenn after poor first half

Florida State was on the ropes in the first half against Boston College, taking an early 14-0 lead in front of the home crowd. Not much has gone right on the offensive end, even with a field goal that put the Seminoles on the scoreboard. DJ Uiagalelei has completed just three of 10 passes for 30 yards so far.

Fans aren’t too happy with Florida State’s quarterback right now, and are suggesting that head coach Mike Norvell make a change. After a third-down incomplete pass, which eventually led to a field goal, the crowd chanted “We want Brock” in support of the backup Brock Glenn.

Glenn is a sophomore and was a former three-star recruit. He played high school football at Memphis (TN) Lausanne University Collegewhere he was a three-star prospect. The quarterback was the No. 465 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankinga weighted average using all four major recruitment media companies.
