Boston College Bullies Florida State In Labor Day Stunner | Time to Trade Dju for Brock Glenn

State of Florida Fans were not happy with the team’s performance Monday night against Boston Collegespecific quarterback DJ UiagaleleiThere were already cries about his benching in the second quarter, and it only got louder after halftime. Brock Glenn was the crowd’s favorite quarterback because he wanted to give the backup player a chance.

Mike Norvell decided against the idea and ultimately stuck with Uiagalelei. At the same time, he understands that fan reactions are part of the game and something that comes with challenges. Norvell is happy with how Uiagalelei responded and made some nice plays in the final period.

“That’s part of the game. At the end of the day, I mean, there’s — everybody’s going to have an opinion on what it is. And of course, you know, it’s playing quarterback, being the coach, you know, being part of a great, great university, great program with high expectations, I mean, it’s our job to go out there and play at a high level. And there are times when you hear things that you don’t want to hear. You might have to go through, you know, tough and challenging situations and that’s all — it’s all part of it.

“But I think DJ, you know, he’s mature, he’s obviously been through a lot, you know, I think he — he was very encouraging out there on the sideline with his teammates, and very encouraging out there in the huddle when we were going at it, just trying to push to make the next play. And that’s what you have to be able to live with. You know, when you’re playing this game, the world can be against you, but if you’re able to go out there and execute that next play and control it, you’re going to be able to get through it.”

Uiagalelei finished with 272 yards, a touchdown, and an interception that night while completing 50 percent of his 42 pass attempts. Sure, there were some drops, but a few throws should have been automatic from the fifth-year quarterback.

Glenn did not enter the field despite the loud support he received from the stands.

Mike Norvell insisted on keeping DJ Uiagalelei in the contest

In what turned out to be a terrible Monday night for Florida State, Norvell decided not to make any changes to the game. Despite the crowd at Doak Campbell Stadium chanting Glenn’s name, Norvell continued to use Uiagalelei at quarterback in the loss to Boston College.

When asked about his decision not to bench Uiagalelei, Norvell instead took the opportunity to use some coaching language. He believes that Florida State’s coaching staff needs to focus on putting players in the right position to succeed. Norvell’s main goal is to find a way to make the Seminoles improve.

“We struggled offensively,” Norvell said in his postgame press conference. “There were a lot of reasons for that. Everything we do, we have to push and get better. That’s what we’re going to focus on. We’re going to focus on pushing to get better. We’re going to put our guys in position to be successful and that’s what we’re going to focus on.”
