Free meals will no longer be available for some Washoe County School District students after Friday, September 6.

As we reported earlier this yearNevada Governor Joe Lombardo vetoed the Universal School Meals Bill in June, meaning Nevada students would no longer automatically receive free meals as they did during the pandemic.

Governor Lombardo responded to criticism in an open letter to families in augusthighlighting that families can still apply for meal support if their school is one of those schools that no longer provides free meals.

68 schools will continue to offer free meals after the September 6 deadline.
