A Minecraft Movie will hit theaters sometime next year. Ahead of that, Warner Bros. has offered a preview of the live-action adaptation of the best-selling novel Minecraft video game.

The film stars Jason Momoa as Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison alongside his friends Henry (Sebastian Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks). However, the daily struggles of the real world don’t seem so difficult when they’re unexpectedly transported to the blocky Overworld.

During their search for home, they end up in a fantastic adventure, together with Jack Black as the expert craftsman Steve.

Direction A Minecraft Movie is Jared Hess, known for his work on Napoleon Dynamite And Nacho Freein which Black also played the lead role.

Some viewers of the trailer were surprised by the film’s imagery, particularly the creepy animals that populate Overworld.
