Tim Walz’s family shares photo of them supporting Trump for president

Members of Tim Walz’s extended family have shared a photo of themselves wearing T-shirts supporting former President Donald Trump.

The photo of the eight family members shows them wearing grammatically incorrect “Walz’s for Trump” shirts and standing in front of a “Trump 2024” flag that reads, “Take America back.”

The image was shared by a family friend and posted on X by Charles Herbster, a former Republican candidate for governor in Nebraska, where the Democratic vice presidential candidate grew up.

“Tim Walz’s family in Nebraska wants you to know something,” Herbster wrote on X.

Trump also shared it on his Truth Social profile.

A spokesperson for Herbster said Newsweek that the people in the image are related to Walz through his great-uncle – his grandfather’s brother. The family reportedly allowed Herbster to share it online.

The photo was taken after Walz’s brother, Florida resident Jeff Walz, told him NewsNation that he has no plans to voice his political support after his Facebook posts critical of Kamala Harris’ running mate came to light.

Jeff Walz wrote on Facebook that his brother “is not the type of person you want to let make decisions about your future.”

He added that he had “thought long and hard” about publicly endorsing Trump, but told NewsNation that he does not want to get involved in politics.

“It was not my intention, nor was it our intention as a family, to put anything out there to influence the general public,” he said.

“I got a lot of feedback from my friends, old acquaintances, who thought I felt the same way my brother did on the issues, and I just tried to make that clear to my friends,” Jeff Walz added. “I used Facebook, which was not the right platform to do that. But I will say, I disagree with his policies.”

The Facebook posts were initially seen by the New York Post.

Still, Trump seemed to think Jeff Walz had endorsed him, writing on Truth Social: “Thank you so much, Jeff. It’s a great honor to have your support. I look forward to meeting you soon!”

Jeff Walz, who is not in the new group photo, said on Facebook that there were “stories” he could tell about why he didn’t want his brother in charge.

“Nobody wanted to sit with him because he got carsick and was always throwing up on us, that kind of thing,” Jeff Walz said. NewsNation. “There’s really nothing else hidden behind it. People assume something else. There are more stories like that, but I think this probably gives you the gist of it.”

The Independent has contacted the Harris campaign and attempted to reach Herbster for comment.
