Argentina will be hoping to cement their position at the top of the qualifying table for the 2026 CONMEBOL World Cup as struggling Chile visit the Mas Monumental Stadium Thursday evening in Buenos Aires.

The Albiceleste have won five of the six qualifiers and are now out a successful defense of their Copa America titlewith Lionel Messi losing his ankle as the captain and superstar has yet to return to the pitch.

Chile have won just once in six qualifying matches and are seventh on goal difference in the play-offs, two points behind sixth-placed Brazil. The top six teams qualify automatically for the 2026 World Cup.

The Red were poor in qualifying, losing 3-1 to Uruguay, 3-0 to Venezuela and 1-0 to Ecuador. Coach Ricardo Gareca and captain Alexis Sanchez need to get back on track between this match and Tuesday’s visit from Bolivia.
