Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois: Victory is in the mind of the reigning IBF heavyweight world champion | Boxing News

Daniel Dubois will be thinking about and visualising how he will beat Anthony Joshua when they meet at Wembley Stadium on September 21.

The IBF heavyweight world champion takes on the former unified king of the division in a blockbuster showdown, airing live on Sky Sports box officewhere the winner will face the winner of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury later this year.

Dubois already has a vision of how he will face Joshua in the ring at Wembley and how he thinks the fight will end, and he will be focusing hard in training camp to make sure that this becomes a reality on match night.

“When I’m in training camp, I sharpen my mind,” Dubois said Sky Sport“I replay the fight over and over again, meditate and visualize.

“I do that a lot, and the sparring helps. The camp atmosphere helps too.

“This fight sells itself based on me and AJ and what we both bring – and what I bring in particular.

“We’ll see how it goes, but I’m going to be in camp, focused and concentrated. I have tunnel vision about getting that win.”

After their Wembley fight was announced, Anthony Joshua admitted Daniel Dubois ‘cracked’ him during sparring but didn’t stop him

September 21st won’t be the first time Dubois and Joshua will share the ring. The pair have fought each other since Joshua was a member of the British amateur team.

There were rumors that Joshua was knocked down by his future opponent in one session, although the former champion denies this.

Dubois emphasizes that he also has no memories of those sessions. And even if he did, he says it wouldn’t be relevant, since he’s made a lot of progress as a boxer since then.

“Those firs were made seven years ago and I honestly can’t remember anything about them,” Dubois said.

A confident Daniel Dubois says he will beat Anthony Joshua on September 21

“I’m not here to spar him now, I’m here to fight him, so I’m thinking about that. I didn’t bring my head guard, that sparring is a thing of the past for me.

“At the time it was a great experience, but seven years later I’m a different fighter with different experiences in the fight game.”

Those experiences include the big nights on the big boxing stages, such as the stadium fights against Kevin Lerena and Usyk in Tottenham and Wroclaw respectively, and the showdowns with Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic in Saudi Arabia.

He has also fought for titles. Two years ago he defeated Trevor Bryan in Miami to win the WBA regular heavyweight title. Then he took the IBF interim title, which was later upgraded to a full world title, in a fight with Hrgovic.

“Especially Saudi,” Dubois said, reflecting on what he learned from those big nights. “It was an amazing journey and I feel like it gave me the strength to move on and get this next W.

“To go there and the way we got the (WBA regular title) with Don King in Miami was just a dream – it was a trip, it was good.

“It’s back in London, fighting again – I’ve missed it. It’s going to be a great night to have that feeling, that energy and that buzz in the city.”

Now with a 21-2 (20) professional record and a world title in his hands, Dubois has little to fear when he takes on Joshua in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley.

Daniel Dubois is confident he has what it takes to beat Anthony Joshua in their mega fight for the IBF heavyweight world title at Wembley in September

But he is convinced that he will use the fear he feels that night instead of letting it get him down.

“You must never let that happen,” Dubois said. “Even if you are afraid, you must act brave!

“If you don’t have a little bit of fear as a fighter, you’re crazy. But fear is good and it’s my friend when I’m in the ring.”
