Tyreek Hill arrested by police for traffic violation on way to game, will play today

Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was stopped, detained and handcuffed by police as he drove to today’s game against the Jaguars. Hill is scheduled to play today.

According to ESPN, Hill was pulled over for speeding, got into a verbal altercation with the officer, was removed from his car and handcuffed, and then given a ticket for reckless driving.

“This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was stopped for a traffic incident approximately one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police,” the Dolphins said in a statement. “He has since been released. Multiple teammates witnessed the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved arrived safely at the stadium and will be available for today’s game.”

ESPN also reported that Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, was in the car with him at the time.

The situation is reminiscent of golfer Scottie Scheffler, who was arrested before playing in the PGA Championship in May after a police officer pulled him over for a traffic violation. In that case, Scheffler was allowed to play and the charges were later dropped. Hill will also try to get off the hook quickly.
