Good morning, Chicago Bears fans.

After a long and difficult off-season in which we were dissatisfied, we have reached this point.

Caleb Williams is a Chicago Bear and will play his first snaps as a Bear today in a regular season game against the Tennessee Titans.

The start of a new season is always a time for optimism and seeing your team in the brightest light possible, but never more so than now for this Bears franchise that has too long held on to the ghosts of 1985 and 2006 and the failed quarterbacks of yesteryear. We would love to be able to tell our grandchildren about the days of Williams and Rome Odunze and DJ Moore the way we beam about the days of Butkus, Sayers, Payton, Ditka and Urlacher.

Of course, we can’t just crown them – the other team sees itself in the best possible light, too, and right now that involves a pivotal 12pm kickoff and reality plays out one way or another. Will Levis enters his sophomore year with his own set of really good veteran weapons in DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley. If the Navy and Orange hope to get things off to a good start, someone besides Montez Sweat in the pass rush is going to have to really give this solid defense an extra boost.
