Dolphins’ Tyreek Hill arrested by police ahead of Week 1 game against Jaguars

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was detained by police prior to the team’s Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, his agent and the team confirmed.

According to the Dolphins, Hill was pulled over by police near the team’s home stadium during a traffic incident.

“This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident approximately one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police,” the team’s X account said in a post. “He has since been released. Multiple teammates witnessed the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved arrived safely at the stadium and will be available for today’s game.”

In a video posted to the social media site X, Hill was seen lying face down on the ground as officers placed his hands behind his back and placed him in handcuffs.

Hill, 30, is entering his third season with the Dolphins and has been at the center of several legal issues since his college days.

In 2014, Hill was arrested for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend and pleaded guilty to domestic violence.

In 2019, he was investigated by Kansas City police for an alleged assault on his then 3-year-old son. However, no charges were filed and the NFL has not disciplined Hill.

In 2023, Hill reached a settlement with an employee of the Haulover Marine Center in Miami Beach after the employee accused Hill of assaulting him following a verbal dispute. No charges were filed, and the league declined to discipline Hill.
