Cowboys have signed two stars to big money contracts, with Micah Parsons next in line

CLEVELAND — With receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott ineligible for big contracts, who’s the next player on the Cowboys roster?

It looks like linebacker Micah Parsons is in the mix.

When Parsons was asked Sunday for his initial reaction to Prescott agreeing to the most expensive contract in NFL history, he shouted, “Goddammit.”

Parsons is eligible for a contract extension next season and is expected to get one of the largest contracts for a non-quarterback in league history.

Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, attended the Cowboys’ 33-17 win over the Browns on Sunday.

Mulugheta also represents Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson, who signed one of the largest contracts for an NFL player, a fully guaranteed, five-year, $230 million deal after being traded by Houston.

In June, Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson topped the NFL’s highest non-quarterback salary when he signed a four-year, $140 million contract with $110 million guaranteed. Jefferson’s contract surpassed the 49ers’ five-year, $170 million contract signed by Nick Bosa.

Parsons will likely get more than Bosa, but whether he will surpass Jefferson is uncertain.

“We’ll see, man,” Parsons said. “I just have to keep doing what I’m doing, keep working, keep trying to be the best player I can be and try to win championships, and then they’ll probably throw me something extra.”

Parsons, a three-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro selection, had one sack and five quarterback hits against the Browns.

Parsons is not the only player set to receive a new contract in the future.

Left guard Tyler Smith and cornerback DaRon Bland will also receive contract extensions if they continue their stellar play. Smith won his first Pro Bowl last season in his sophomore year. Bland led the NFL with nine interceptions last season.
