Rams place Puka Nacua on IR with PCL sprain

A report earlier Monday characterized receiver Puka Nacua as week-to-week with his knee injury. But Nacua will be out for at least a month.

Rams head coach Sean McVay told reporters at his press conference on Monday that Nacua has a PCL sprain and will be placed on the injured list.

Nacua aggravated the injury he suffered during training camp in the first half of Sunday’s season opener against Detroit. McVay said the recurrence “was a bad thing,” per Greg Beacham of the Associated Press.is a little more meaningful“than the original injury.

The 23-year-old Nacua caught four passes for 35 yards before leaving the game.

Last season, Nacua broke a rookie record with 105 receptions for 1,486 yards and six touchdowns.

The Rams are also dealing with several injuries on their offensive line. McVay noted via multiple reporters that guard Steve Avila suffered a sprained MCL and is on the injured reserve. Reserve left tackle Joe Noteboom — who started Sunday for the suspended Alaric Jackson — will be out for a couple of weeks with a high ankle sprain. Right guard Kevin Dotson also suffered an ankle sprain and is day-to-day.

McVay said the club will look at outside candidates for offensive linemen. Right tackle Rob Havenstein was inactive Sunday because of an ankle injury.

Cornerback Cobie Durant is also day-to-day due to a toe injury.

The Rams hit the road again in Week 2 to take on the Cardinals.
