BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Some school districts have announced they are canceling classes for students on Wednesday, September 11th due to Hurricane Francine making landfall in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas.

The following schools have made announcements:

UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES

• Louisiana State University will be closed, but classes will be taught remotely Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12. Students who remain on campus during the storm are asked to remain indoors from 10 a.m. Wednesday to 1 p.m. Thursday. This means that students are asked to not go outside during this time. If students are living on campus, meals will be delivered to the residence halls during the stay-at-home period. Students can stay in touch with residence hall staff for updates.
• Southern University Baton Rouge campuses close at 1 p.m. Tuesday September 10th and will remain closed on Wednesday September 11th And Thursday September 12th. Normal operations are expected to resume on Friday, September 13. The closure will impact all classes, business, and activities at Southern University and A&M College, the Southern University Law Center, and the Southern University AgCenter. Students living in on-campus housing are encouraged to remain home or return home when it is safe to do so.
• All North Coast Technical Community College campuses close at 12:00 Tuesday, September 10th. Campuses remain closed until Thursday, September 12th. During the campus closure, all classes are cancelled.
• Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) will switch to remote work and virtual classes from 12:00 noon Tuesday September 10th. All campuses are closed on Wednesday September 11thAnd Thursday September 12thand all classes, events and activities have been cancelled.
• Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University is closed from 5pm Tuesday September 10thand will remain closed on Wednesday September 11thFranU is currently planning to resume operations remotely Thursday September 12th.

PARISH OF THE ASCAPEMENT

• Ascension public schools and after-school care are closed on Wednesday September 11, And Thursday September 12thAfter school activities are cancelled on Tuesday September 10th.

PARISH OF THE ACCEPTION

• Assumption Parish public schools and offices are closed on Tuesday September 10th, Wednesday September 11th, And Thursday September 12th.

PARISH OF IBERVILLE

• St. Mary Parish public schools and offices are closed on Tuesday September 10thAnd Wednesday September 11th.

PARISH OF ST. JAMES

• St. James Parish public schools and offices are closed on Wednesday September 11th, And Thursday September 12th. All after-school activities are cancelled on Tuesday September 10th.

PARISH OF EAST BATON ROUGE

• All East Baton Rouge Parish School System schools will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.

• Zachary Community School District will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• Central Community School System will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• The City of Baker School System will close schools on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12After school activities are cancelled for Tuesday September 10th.
• St. Joseph’s Academy will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• Helix Mentorship Academy And Helix Legal Academy will close at 1pm on Tuesday September 10th. Helix Aviation Academy will close at 2:30pm on Tuesday September 10th. All Helix Community Schools remains closed by Thursday September 12th.
• Schools for the Deaf and Visually Impaired in Louisiana will be closed on Wednesday September 11th And Thursday September 12th.
• Dalton Primary School And Lanier Elementary School will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• Jones Creek Adventist Academy will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• GEO Prep Academy, GEO Mid-City, GEO Prep Baker, GEO Next Generation High SchoolAnd administrative offices will be closed on Wednesday September 11th And Thursday September 12th. All after-school activities are cancelled on Tuesday September 10th.
• Central private school will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• Trinity Episcopal Day School will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• Parkview Baptist School will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• Southern University Laboratory School will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12. All after-school activities are cancelled on Tuesday September 10th.
• Capital Renaissance International School will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• IDEA Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• Episcopal School of Baton Rouge will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• The Dunham School will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12.
• Inspire Charter Academy will be closed on Wednesday September 11thAnd Thursday September 12th.
• Jehovah-Jireh Christian Academy and Learning Center will be closed on Wednesday September 11thAnd Thursday September 12th.
• Martin Luther King Jr. Christian Academy will be closed on Wednesday September 11thAnd Thursday September 12th.

PARISH EAST FELICIAN

• All Public schools in East Feliciana are closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12. All after school activities have been cancelled for Tuesday, September 10th.

PARISH OF LIVINGSTON

• All Public Schools in Livingston Parish will be closed on Wednesday September 11th And Thursday, September 12th. Classes will resume on Friday, September 13th. After-school activities end at 5:00 PM. Tuesday, September 10th.

Parish Pointe Coupee

• All Public Schools in Pointe Coupee Parish and the district office will be closed on Wednesday September 11thAnd Thursday September 12th. All after-school activities are cancelled on Tuesday September 10th.

PARISH OF WEST BATON ROUGE

• Schools in West Baton Rouge Parish will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12. After school activities are cancelled on Tuesday, September 10th.
• Holy Family School will be closed on Wednesday September 11 and Thursday September 12. After school activities are cancelled on Tuesday, September 10th. After school activities are cancelled on Tuesday September 10th.

PARISH OF ST. HELENA

• St. Helena College and Vocational Academy will be closed on Wednesday September 11th. On Thursday September 12thwill be a virtual learning day. Students are expected to complete their assignments and join Teams meetings from 1:00 to 3:00 pm for direct instruction.
