A Fox News panel of voters has indicated that Vice President Kamala Harris emerged victorious in Tuesday night’s debate against former President Donald Trump, as the two candidates clashed on issues including the economy, foreign policy, immigration and abortion.

When Fox News panelists were asked who they thought had won the debate, 12 voters raised their hands for Harris, while five raised their hands for Trump, the news site reported.

“Trump was so bad,” said one panelist. “He’s like an old suit from 1987 now. He’s just repeating himself.”

“And she’s refreshing because she’s different,” the voter continued, referring to Harris. “I think if he had a different line of attack with her, it would have been more effective.”

Another panelist suggested that Trump was having trouble adjusting to his new opponent. In June, Trump debated President Joe Biden, who soon dropped out of the race and endorsed Harris as his replacement at the top of the Democratic ticket.

“He’s still thinking about running against Joe Biden,” the voter said.

When asked for comment, a Trump campaign spokesperson pointed out Newsweek to the following statement from Trump’s senior advisers Chris LaCivita and Susie Wiles: “President Trump delivered a masterful debate performance tonight, continuing Kamala Harris’ terrible streak of failures that have hurt Americans over the past four years.

“We watched President Trump lay out his bold vision for America and build on the successes of his first term by boosting the economy, securing our borders and ending the crime that plagues communities across the country.

“Conversely, Kamala’s vision for America was a dark reminder of the oppressive, big government policies Joe Biden wants to continue. High inflation, a porous border that allows criminals and terrorists to flood across en masse, and being soft on crime — that’s what Kamala stands for.

“The choice couldn’t be clearer: President Trump was the clear winner tonight, and he will win for America when he returns to the White House.”

Newsweek Harris’ campaign reached out to him via email seeking comment outside of normal business hours.

Panel members were not without criticism of Harris, however. One voter said that while the vice president “knows how to tug at your heartstrings,” they felt she “skirted certain issues.”

“She did a good job for the people watching at home,” said another. “But at the end of the day, she and President Joe Biden have been in office for three years, almost four years, and they still haven’t done anything.”

Another panelist said Harris was “weak” on both substance and fact.

Another poll CNN conducted after the debate also gave a positive signal in Harris’ favor.

The instant poll, with a margin of error of 5.4 percent, found that 63 percent of viewers believed Harris won the debate, while 37 percent said the same about Trump.

Before Tuesday’s debate, the newspaper indicated that expectations about who would win were 50-50.

“This is a complete reversal from what we saw in June,” said CNN Political Director David Chalian. “It was 67 percent to 33 percent, two-thirds thought Trump won, only a third thought Biden won. A complete reversal.”

An analysis by Newsweek After the debate, it emerged that the odds that Harris would win the November presidential election had increased at 20 leading bookmakers.
