Orlando Bloom honored Katy Perry with a sweet speech at the VMAs

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom first hit it off while sharing a burger at the Golden Globes in 2016. Since then, they’ve become one of Hollywood’s sweetest couples.

After a brief split in 2017, Katy and Orlando got engaged in 2019 and welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, the following year.

It goes without saying that Katy and Orlando are each other’s biggest fans. So when a special guest was needed to introduce Katy at last night’s MTV VMAs, there seemed to be only one man for the job.

In case you missed it, Katy was this year’s winner of the MTV Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. As usual, the winner surprised her fans with a rousing performance of her greatest hits.

Before Katy’s 10-minute medley — which included songs like “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream” and “I Kissed a Girl” — Orlando was welcomed to the stage to deliver a glowing introduction, praising his fiancée’s “remarkable” talent.

“You fell in love with her as Katy Perry. I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson,” he began, referring to her by her birth name.

The Pirates of the Caribbean The star went on to say that Katy’s music has brought “a sense of joy and laughter” to fans and inspired “generations of people all over the world.”

“Congratulations on this honor, honey. I’m so proud of you. *143*!” he concluded, referencing the title of her upcoming album. “Ladies and gentlemen, the MTV Video Vanguard of 2024, Katheryn Hudson. Katy Perry!”

When her energetic, gravity-defying performance was over, Orlando presented Katy with her trophy. And in her acceptance speech, she did the same with an adorable shoutout to him and their four-year-old daughter.

“Thank you Orlando for keeping me grounded, celebrating me, and doing the dishes,” she said, referring to her recent confession about their home life on the Call her daddy podcast. “And lastly, to my Daisy, the only flowers I will ever need.”
