“I just consider it a privilege. I feel so lucky,” he told the outlet. “I’ve been to a lot of different places and there are very, very few places I’ve been that are more beautiful than the island of Crete. I’ve never been to Greece before I got to make this film, and it’s a cliché — the beauty of Greece — but it’s a cliché for a reason. It’s damn beautiful!”

“I think if you’re like me and you’re drawn to juicy characters and beautiful environments, and Shea and Richard are both so good in the setting of the island of Crete, you really couldn’t ask for a more beautiful place in the world,” Gordon-Levitt continued. “If you just want to get a vibe going, I think you’ll enjoy this film.”

‘Killer Heat’ is inspired by a short story

Inspired by the short story “The Jealousy Man” by Jo Nesbø, “Killer Heat” centers on American detective Nick Bali (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), who investigates the suspected accidental death of prominent shipping magnate Leo Vardakis (Richard Madden) on the picturesque island of Crete.

While police reports point to a tragic accident, Vardakis’ sister-in-law (Shailene Woodley) suspects foul play and believes the truth is being hidden.
