Trump’s Las Vegas visit impacts traffic on roads and at the airport | Traffic

Former President Donald Trump will make a campaign visit to Las Vegas on Friday, which will have consequences for road and air traffic.

The Federal Aviation Administration has issued a temporary flight restriction over the Las Vegas Valley airspace from 5 p.m. Friday to 2 p.m. Saturday. That means Trump will land just before he is scheduled to speak to a crowd of supporters at the Expo at the World Market Center in downtown Las Vegas at 7 p.m. Friday.

Since the flight restrictions are in effect through Saturday afternoon, this means Trump will spend the night in Las Vegas and leave Saturday afternoon in preparation for his speech at 6 p.m. local time in Glendale, Arizona.

The Metropolitan Police Department, Nevada Department of Transportation, and Harry Reid International generally do not provide specific information about VIP traffic.

Given Trump’s previous visits and his original destination in the city center, temporary traffic controls may be in place for his motorcade upon Trump’s arrival Friday afternoon at the Airport Connector Tunnel, the 215 Beltway, Interstate 15, Charleston Boulevard, Grand Central Parkway and Bonneville Avenue.

After the event ends, if Trump stays overnight, as the flight restrictions suggest, he traditionally stays at his namesake hotel, Trump International, when he is in Las Vegas. There could be temporary traffic congestion on I-15, Spring Mountain Road and Las Vegas Boulevard between downtown and the Strip hotel.

On Saturday, when Trump’s stop in Southern Nevada ends and his motorcade returns to Reid Airport, temporary traffic controls may be in place on Las Vegas Boulevard, Spring Mountain, I-15, the 215, Tropicana Avenue, Paradise Road and the airport tunnel.
