Members of the rock band Jane’s Addiction got into a fight during their concert in Boston on Friday night.

In a video captured and shared on social media, frontman Perry Farrell is seen having a heated exchange with guitarist Dave Navarro.

Farrell, 65, launched his body forcefully toward Navarro, 57, onstage. The guitarist appeared to place his hands on the frontman’s chest in an attempt to stop him from moving forward.

During the tense confrontation, Farrell appeared to yell at Navarro until he punched the guitarist.

The security guards quickly broke up the fight and told Farrell to “stop it” while holding him down to prevent them from attacking the guitarist again.

Navarro grabbed Farrell by the arm and wanted to attack the guitarist again.

Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau, took to social media to speak out about the dispute and explain the events that transpired.

“Instead of speculating, I thought I would post a firsthand account of what happened on stage with Jane’s Addiction last night at Lender Pavilion in Boston,” Lau wrote on her Instagram.

“There was obviously a lot of tension and animosity between the members… the magic that made the band so dynamic. Well, the dynamite was lit. Perry got up in Dave’s face and controlled him,” she explained.

Lau added that the feud stemmed from Perry’s patience running out as his health was not in the best condition prior to the band’s performance.

“Perry’s frustration grew every night. He felt like the volume on stage was extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band,” she continued.

“Perry suffered from tinnitus and a sore throat every night. But when the front row audience started complaining all the way up to Perry, yelling at him that the band was playing too loud and they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it.”

In Lau’s lengthy post, she wrote that Eric Avery, the founder of Jane’s Addiction and co-songwriter, is the one who “won the battle.”

“Eric walked up to Perry, on stage, in the dark… grabbed Perry in a choke hold and punched him three times in the stomach. Kevin, the crew member with long hair… pulled Eric away. Then Eric casually walked up to apologize to the audience for ending the show early.”

She went on to say that the aftermath of the concert brawl ended with Eric making “some cheap comments about Perry.”

“Perry was a crazy animal for half an hour. Eventually he didn’t calm down, he just broke down and cried and cried.”
