Analyzing What Makes Alabama True Freshman WR Ryan Williams So Special

It was an impressive start for Alabama freshmen Ryan Williamsa 17-year-old phenomenon who has played two games in his career so far.

He analyzed Williams’ potential with Kaiden Smith of On3 on The On3 Round Table.

“He reminds me of Mark Jackson in the NBA, saying, ‘Mama, there goes that guy,'” Watts said. “I mean, everything you see about Ryan (Williams), you can’t have more hype around Ryan Williams. He’s got the nickname Hollywood early on. He’s been telling people at a young age that he’s going to be the best wide receiver in the country. You know, 17 years old. He’s skipping a year, he should be a senior going for his three-time Alabama Mr. Football, the only two-time winner by the way.

“And this guy is out here on a college campus making big plays. So, I mean, there’s not really enough heat. I guess the simplest way to say it is, Ryan (Williams) is who we thought he was. He’s a superstar. Some guys just shine brighter. Some people just shine on a different level, he’s got talent. I mean, it’s not just that he’s got a work ethic. He’s got hands, he’s got a catch radius. He’s fast. He’s really fast, really quick, just a lot, the complete package.”

As a member of the Class of 2024, Williams was a five-star recruit out of Saraland (Ala.) High, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 2 overall prospect in the state, the No. 3 wide receiver in the class and the No. 5 overall prospect in the class.
