Windy Sunday brings scattered storms from Monday morning

UPDATE: 6:05 PM On Sunday evening, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Salt Lake and Davis counties.

Salt Lake City, West Valley City and West Jordan were under a warning that expired at 5:45 p.m. Parts of Davis County, including Bountiful and Layton, were under a warning until 6:15 p.m.

This storm may bring wind gusts of 60 mph (96 km/h) and pea-sized hail.

KSL TV’s Kristen Van Dyke says Monday will be the last day of above average temperatures, at least for a week.

“There are some big changes happening in Utah this week. Expect showers and storms to develop on Monday,” she said.


Salt Lake City — A cold front moves in Sunday morning, bringing a line of scattered storms to southwestern Utah Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, the developing storms could bring strong wind gusts and temperatures will drop throughout the work week.

Kristen Van Dyke of KSL Weather says smoke levels will increase on Sunday as temperatures will be in the upper 80s. “Monday brings showers and storms with highs in the low 80s and then highs as low as 60 on Tuesday!”
