Former Husker Cam Taylor-Britt Makes Incredible Interception Against Patrick Mahomes

A former Nebraska football star will continue to play in the National Football League on Sundays.

Blackshirt alumnus Cam Taylor-Britt made a dramatic interception during Sunday afternoon’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium against the Kansas City Chiefs. The one-handed catch along the visitors’ sideline came late in the third quarter when Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes attempted a go route against CTB.

The former Husker cornerback secured the interception, setting himself up against rookie receiver Xavier Worthy. The speedy receiver was hoping to set up another big play for the Chiefs, as Taylor-Britt had been beaten by Kansas City’s Rashee Rice for a long touchdown pass earlier in the game. The late-quarter interception was awarded as CTB’s fifth career pick.

Taylor-Britt was a second-round draft pick in 2021 and finished his NU career as a second-team All-Big Ten selection for back-to-back seasons in 2020 and 2021. He was an honorable mention all-conference pick in 2019. Britt recorded a personal-best 51 tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, 1.0 sack and 11 pass breakups in his final season at Lincoln, ranking third in the conference in passes defensed in every game.

Entering his third season in the NFL, Taylor-Britt started 21 of the possible 22 games he played in. In his sophomore year, he caught four interceptions, including a pick-six. Taylor-Britt has defended 17 passes in his career, with seven career forced turnovers, including two forced fumbles.

The game ended with a 51-yard game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker, giving Kansas City a 26-25 win over the Bengals. The final three points put Cincinnati 0-2 to start the season.

The Nebraska alum was featured in an offseason episode of the Husker Football documentary series “Chasing 3,” where Taylor-Britt is earning his bachelor’s degree from the university. The defensive back is a proud Nebraska alum and continues his “Forever Blackshirt” nickname in his social media bio.
