Jude Bellingham returns from injury and is immediately included in the Madrid squad.

Right-back Dani Carvajal starts in the centre of Madrid’s defence, while Brazil international Eder Militao is not at 100% after sustaining an injury last week while playing for his country.

Midfielder Tchouameni was also an option at CB, but he is needed in the centre of the pitch as coach Carlo Ancelotti has struggled with a series of injuries early in the season.

Carlo Ancelotti, explaining his line-up, said on Movistar TV before the match: “(Eder) Militao could have played but he didn’t train yesterday, after Real Sociedad on Saturday he felt a bit of a problem, so we preferred not to take any risks. Lucas Vazquez is fresher, so at this point in the season it is better.

“I wanted to put Tchouameni in the middle because I think we need solidity there. Carvajal has no problem playing anywhere, he would do well as a central defender.”
