RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Nevada Public Utilities Commission has partially approved NV Energy’s request to increase rates for customers in northern Nevada.

The basic service charge for residential customers will increase from $16.50 to $18.50. NV Energy had requested to nearly triple the current rate.

The commission’s decision follows a request from NV Energy for quarterly and annual rate increases in both northern and southern Nevada, which was partially approved.
