Vice President Kamala Harris faced a wave of ridicule on Wednesday after she repeated the phrase “the children of the community” in her latest outburst.

Harris spoke at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 47th annual leadership conference in Washington, D.C., offering few specifics about the policies she will pursue as she runs for president.

At one point, however, Harris spoke about providing families with the resources they need to “raise their children well.” He stated, “I was raised with the idea that the children of the community are the children of the community, and we should all have a vested interest in making sure that children can grow up with the resources they need to reach their God-given potential.”

Many political commentators on social media reacted strongly to the statement.

“Why is she like this, lol,” asked OutKick’s Riley Gaines.

Author David Harsanyi tore the statement to pieces: “I would call it a tautology, but she doesn’t even bother to use different words to say the same thing.”

“She’s a deep thinker,” commentator Carmine Sabia joked.

“We know exactly why Kamala doesn’t get serious interviews,” said podcaster Tim Young. “She’s a fucking mess.”

Radio personality Mike North parodied Harris’s way of speaking, saying, “I grew up in the neighborhood and I’m a neighborhood guy who lives in the neighborhood with neighbors who live in the neighborhood.”

Other commentators saw past the humor and argued that the statement suggests a dystopian agenda.

“Kamala Harris reminds you that Democrats see your children as their children. ‘The children of the community are the children of the community,’” warned Brandon Morse, editor in chief of RedState.

Market analyst and political commentator Jeff Carlson offered similar words of caution: “Don’t be fooled. This is Kamala’s Marxist version of ‘It takes a village.'”

This is just the latest in a long history of repeated “word salads” from the vice president, who uses the word “community” in a circular manner.

She previously gave a speech at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC, in 2022, where she stated, “When we talk about the children of the community, it’s the children of the community.”

In 2023, she was similarly ridiculed when she said, “community banks are in the community.”
