The Los Angeles Dodgers will be in the 2024 MLB Postseason, but their seeding has yet to be determined. They’ll hope to improve their standing when they take on the Colorado Rockies at home on Saturday.

The Dodgers give Walker Buehler the starting pitching job, who has struggled to a 5.54 ERA and has given up at least three runs in 11 of his 14 starts this season.

With 2.1 home runs and 3.6 walks allowed per nine innings, Buehler’s 5.90 fielding independent is even higher than his ERA. Despite that, the Dodgers are 8-3 in Buehler’s last 10 starts, thanks to how explosive their offense has been.

Since the All-Star Break, the Dodgers rank second in the league in offense, allowing over 5.5 runs per game. They lead the Nationals League in home runs, allowing nearly 1.6 per game during that span.

Cal Quantrill starts for the Rockies. Quantrill has a 4.67 ERA with just 6.7 strikeouts per nine innings, while allowing four walks per nine innings. In his four starts since being out of the rotation for two weeks in August, he has a 5.50 ERA with 1.5 home runs and 7.5 walks per nine innings.

Quantrill has struggled all season on the road, posting a 4.99 ERA and allowing 1.3 home runs per nine innings. He’s backed by a bullpen that has a 5.30 ERA this season, which is more than a half-point worse than any other in the league. The second-worst team has a 4.79 ERA in its bullpen this season.

As of July 1st, the Dodgers bullpen is ranked 18th with a 4.41 ERA. With all the pitchers struggling in this game, it will lead to a high-scoring game on Saturday.
