OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – We’ll start the weekend off with some scattered showers early Saturday. Rain will be sparse and localized today, but the chance for showers and storms will increase after sunset. Rain chances are highest overnight through Sunday.

There is a slight risk of a few localized strong storms later today after 3pm as a strong cold front moves in. In general there may be a storm or two that will try to produce some large hail or gusts, but most will remain below the extreme limits.

With all this I was expecting a very warm and humid day today with highs jumping into the low 90s, which has been climbing quite a bit over the last few days.

The dew point will be in the humid range all day, but will drop significantly later tonight.

Sunday will likely see rounds of rain and should taper off in the afternoon. Overall it will be a cloudy and cooler day with highs in the 60s, dropping sharply between Saturday and Sunday.

In general, the heaviest rain will fall south of I-80 by the time the last chance of rain passes Monday morning, where the chances of 1-2″ of rain are greatest.

A cooler period of fall weather begins Sunday and should continue through next week. Several mornings in the 40s are likely to begin next week.
