Two people – a 4-year-old girl and a 58-year-old man – died in car crashes near Charlotte, NC; Officials say authorities attribute their deaths to Helene’s rain Charlotte Observer.

And on Friday, two more people were killed in Laurens County, Georgia, with Emergency Management Agency Director Bill Laird saying one death was the result of a car crash and another died when a tree fell on a house.

He said authorities received at least 140 “tree down” calls throughout the night, 13WMAZ reported.

These latest reports bring Helene’s total confirmed death toll to seven: four in Georgia, one in Florida and two in North Carolina.
