NCAAF Game Thread: Colorado vs. Nebraska history, predictions, game notes for Saturday

Nate M. Quick thoughts: Nebraska is favored by 10 and let’s hope they at least win by 1. There aren’t many more wins on the cards if Nebraska’s defense doesn’t improve and if the offensive line continues to struggle. Purdue has scored 28 points in three games.

Nate M prediction: Nebraska 28 – Purdue 18

Date: Today.

Location: Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, IN

Time: 11 am

Information about TV broadcasts: Peacock Network (Jac Collinsworth, Michael Robinson, Caroline Pineda)

Radio info: Husker Radio Network with Greg Sharpe, Damon Benning and Jessica Cody. A list of affiliates can be found at Huskers.com/Listen.

Purdue – Nebraska History: Saturday’s meeting will be the 13th game in the Nebraska-Purdue series, with the series featuring six wins each. Nebraska posted a 31-14 victory in Lincoln last year to even the series.

Husker Game Notes Matchup: Nebraska leaves Lincoln for the first time in 2024 and travels to West Lafetyette, Ind., to take on Purdue in the Huskers’ Big Ten road opener. Game time at Purdue’s Ross-Ade Stadium is set for 11 a.m. CT (noon, local), with Peacock providing streaming coverage of the game. The game can also be heard on the Huskers Radio Network and the Huskers App.

The Huskers are 3-1 this season and 0-1 in Big Ten Conference play after a 31-24 overtime loss to Illinois on Friday night in Lincoln. The Huskers took a 24-17 lead early in the fourth quarter, but the Illini tied it 24-24 midway through the fourth quarter and prevailed with a touchdown in overtime.

The loss to Illinois ended a streak of ten straight games in which Nebraska had allowed 24 or fewer points. The Husker offense continued to show its explosiveness with 297 yards through the air, including five pass plays of at least 20 yards.

Purdue enters the game with a 1-2 record after a 38-21 loss at Oregon State on Saturday night. The Boilermakers opened the season with a win over Indiana State before losses to Notre Dame and Oregon State. Coach Ryan Walters’ team has shown a strong running game through three games, averaging 183.0 yards per game on the ground, including 263 rushing yards at Oregon State. The Boilermaker defense was solid against the pass, allowing just 123 yards per game.

Saturday’s game marks the twelfth straight year that Nebraska and Purdue have met on the playing field. After this year’s competition, the teams won’t meet again until the 2027 season in Lincoln.
