One of Alabama football’s most explosive players in 2024 should still be in high school.

Crimson Tide receiver Ryan Williams, a 2025 recruit who reclassified to the class of 2024, was the No. 4 overall prospect and the No. 3 receiver in the most recent recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings.

He is also too young to vote in the upcoming elections.

The 17-year-old is Alabama’s leading receiver so far this season, catching 10 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns for an average of 28.5 yards per reception.

He is also the youngest player in FBS.

The promising candidate certainly had the qualities to contribute as a freshman and came to Tuscaloosa as the first two-time Mr. Football winner in the state of Alabama, a state known for its football tradition and influx of talent. He also had an incredibly productive last two years in high school, racking up over 4,600 yards and 65 touchdowns at Saraland High School.

Williams, Alabama’s true freshman star receiver, is still 17 years old. He won’t turn 18 until after the season on February 9, 2025.

He was born on February 9, 2007 and planned to sign with the Crimson Tide on his birthday. He decided to sign his NLI on February 7, 2024 along with his teammates.

Williams committed to Alabama as a high school sophomore but was cut after former coach Nick Saban retired in January. After reconsidering his options, he returned to the Crimson Tide and coach Kalen DeBoer on January 24, two weeks to the day after Saban retired.
