UEFA Europa League result thanks to victory by Ange Postecoglou’s young team thanks to goals from Pape Sarr and substitute Brennan Johnson

JOHNSON HAS THE GOAL TRACK AGAIN AS SPURS WIN AGAIN IN EUROPE

Substitute Brennan Johnson continued his recent hot streak as youthful Tottenham maintained their perfect start to life in the UEFA Europa League with a 2-1 win over Ferencvaros.

Ange Postecoglou named four teenagers in his starting XI in a much-changed team from the side that defeated Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend.

It looked like it would backfire early on, as the Hungarian team dominated and saw Barnabas Varga’s goal disallowed for offside.

Spurs took full advantage of the delay and Pape Sarr broke the deadlock after 23 minutes when he fired home following a mix-up in the home side’s defence.

Guglielmo Vicario produced a fine fingertip stop to keep Matheus Saldanha out after the restart, while Timo Werner and 19-year-old debutant Will Lankshear went close at the other end.

Spurs finally scored a second when Johnson curled a low shot into the corner four minutes from time, making it five goals in his last five appearances.

Varga then set up a nail-biting finale with a super volley at the near post, but the visitors held on to make it two wins out of two in Europe.

Tottenham will now look to maintain the current momentum when they visit Brighton in the Premier League on Sunday.
