Strong gusts of wind expected on Friday; rising and falling temperature trend

MISSOULA — Weather conditions look calm and breezy today, just like yesterday.

Daytime highs will reach the mid 60s after a frigid start to the morning. Tomorrow will be even warmer in the 70s and 80s before another cold front arrives.

This front threatens to bring strong winds, some scattered showers and cooler temperatures on Saturday.

In anticipation of the front, the local National Weather Service has already issued a High Wind Watch. Wind gusts can reach up to 100 km/h, with average values between 30 and 60 km/h.

As tree clearing continues after this summer’s storm, take precautions now to protect your property. Trash cans, outdoor Halloween decorations, etc. must be tied or secured inside.

A small amount of shower activity should follow the front, which will impact plans for Friday evening. However, the moisture will be short-lived.

The wind will decrease on Saturday and the sun will return. High pressure will then stabilize starting Sunday, bringing highs to 70 degrees for much of next week.
