Bo Nix is apparently doing well to ingratiate himself with the Denver Broncos coaching staff, including head coach Sean Payton.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Broncos coaches “loved” the heated sideline exchange between Nix and Payton in the third quarter of their 34-18 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on October 6.

Russini noted that the situation stemmed from Payton calling a play that Nix changed, causing his coach to respond to him.

The play Nix called should have resulted in a 45-yard touchdown on third-and-3 as Troy Franklin was wide open in the end zone, but Franklin was unable to corral the ball and the Broncos elected to play on the fourth place.

Both men had different stories after the game about what was actually said on the sidelines. Nothing joked they both said they love each other. Payton tried to make an analogy to Ferris Bueller that didn’t quite make sense, but you applaud him for trying.

Nix followed up by using clips of Ferris Bueller’s day off in his Instagram Stories as part of his recap of the game.

According to Russini, another AFC West coach praised the highlights Nix included in the video because they were “mostly the plays his teammates made, on both sides of the ball.”

Nix is still learning on the job, but there are signs of encouragement from his performance so far. The win over the Raiders marked his first game with multiple touchdown passes. He also completed 70.4 percent of his attempts in career victories.

Denver has won three games in a row after an 0-2 start. Nix will look to keep the positive momentum going on Sunday when the Broncos host the Los Angeles Chargers, with the winner in sole possession of second place in the AFC West.
