The “Get Out” filmmaker, who shared the photos with Jimmy Fallon, also dressed up as “baby Forest Whitaker.”

Don’t expect to find the Halloween costumes from horror author Jordan Peele’s childhood in the aisles of Spirit Halloween.

The filmmaker recently came by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and brought along photos of Halloween costumes from the past, each more niche than the last for a young boy. “I was the Halloween guy when I was a kid,” Peele said.

One year, Peele dressed up as a poker table, complete with a plate of pretzels in his hand and beer cans on top. “I got stuck in the stairwell of my house trying to get out for trick-or-treating,” he said. For another year, Peele dressed up as half devil, half angel, with one half of his face painted white and the other red.

“That’s an elaborate costume,” Fallon noted.

Peele joked, “Yeah, if your kid wants to dress like that, you know you’re in trouble. Lots of nuance.”

Less niche is the year Peele dressed up as Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice, which he says was at a time when they didn’t yet have the iconic pinstripe suit or crazy hair in stores. “You had to find stuff in the garbage,” Peele said of his dedication to the costume.
