Beloved comedian and radio personality Wanda Smith dies at age 58

Comedienne and radio personality Wanda Smith has passed away. She was 58. A cause of death is not yet known.

A native of Miami, Smith was best known in Atlanta for his hosting Frank and Wanda in the morningon V-103 (WVEE-FM). Smith hosted the morning show from 1998-2012. She spent four years with Ryan Cameron from 2014 to early 2018. Smith would rejoin Frank Ski for another stint at V-103.

Smith also received writing credits for Def Comedy Jam. She also appeared in the movies Madea goes to jail, Madea’s witness protectionAnd The drone that saved Christmas.

Condolences poured in from across the entertainment industry. Actress and comedienne Loni Love shared her heart on social media:

“I am saddened to hear about the passing of comedian and radio host Wanda Smith. She was a staple in the Atlanta area and we got into comedy together. She was the ultimate entertainer. Just rest now sister. Condolences to the Smit family.

Although she was more known for the radio incident with Katt Williams… Wanda was one of the first ComicView comics to work the Atlanta circuit. She put on other comics and loved being an entertainer. Rest in peace.”

Smith a pillar in the Atlanta community. May her legacy be a blessing.
