It was the culmination of one of the most anticipated days of the 2024 college football regular season.

And No. 2 Ohio State at No. 3 Oregon did not disappoint.

In what looked like a potential opportunity for the Buckeyes to come away with the win, the Ducks figured out defense on Ohio State’s final possession, holding on for a 32-31 win Saturday at Autzen Stadium. Ducks kicker Atticus Sappington hit the eventual game-winning field goal from 19 yards to give the Ducks the lead with 1:47 left in the game.

Ohio State quarterback Will Howard rushed what would be Ohio State’s final play and slid as time expired. Ohio State ran out of time to use the only remaining timeout to set up a potential game-winning field goal.
