Jay White def. Executioner Adam Page

Fans had a huge reaction to Hangman Adam Page with mixed chants of “FU Hangman!” and “Cowboy shit!” This is as good as a heel is going to do in AEW, because AEW doesn’t book heels, they generally book wrestling matches for the sake of wrestling.

The announcing team noted that the Gunns were unable to travel for this pay-per-view due to injuries sustained after an attack on Dynamite.

Hangman attempted a Buckshot Lariat, but Jay White kept stumbling towards him, preventing Hangman from attempting the move. After grabbing multiple forearms, White staggered away from Hangman, showing off his ring awareness.

The wildest spot came when Executioner Adam Page hit a powerbomb on Jay White on the steps.

Referee Paul Turner threatened to disqualify Hangman after Page pulled out a belt and tried to use it as a weapon. Of course this didn’t happen.

After taking advantage of Adam Page’s back knee, Jay White surprisingly won this match by countering the Buckshot Lariat with a Bladerunner. Juice Robinson came out after the game to congratulate his friend.

Mariah May Final Willow Nightingale

Nigel McGuinness really leans into his role as Mariah May’s Chief Glacer.

Willow locked herself in a sort of modified death lock that looked awkward, but got a good reaction from the audience. Excalibur attributed the maneuver to the CMLL influence of the former CMLL women’s champion. Nightingale was able to get an even bigger reaction to the action by slamming Mariah’s head into her own knee.

Nigel’s “Darling Angel” avoided an impressive moonsault from Willow and reached May Day for a near fall.

May hit a killer hurricanrana counter to a super powerbomb, followed by a running knee strike and a Storm Zero for the win. A great match.

Jack Perry Final Katsuyori Shibata; MJF returned

This match immediately became entertaining when Katsuyori Shibata started hacking away at Jack Perry’s chest. Jack Perry responded with a series of kicks to Shibata’s chest, which Perry didn’t sell. Instead, Shibata resumed his chops with machine gun chops that popped the Tacoma Dome.

Shibata absolutely dominated this match, even to the finish where he locked Perry in a rear naked choke. Unfortunately, Shibata’s shoulders were on the mat and the referee counted three.

Fans went crazy when Daniel Garcia retired. Perry sulked off, opening the door for MJF’s return to even bigger pop. While Garcia and MJF faced off, Perry attacked Garcia from behind.

MJF cut a promo for Daniel Garcia and borrowed Elias’ infamous cheap-heat line about the Seattle Supersonics. MJF announced that he had found his Dynamite Diamond Ring, and just as he was about to make Daniel kiss the ring, Adam Cole returned.

Konosuke Takeshita final Ricochet and Will Ospreay

As expected, there were a lot of great coordinated spots early on. Ricochet (who was in trunks) and Ospreay’s stalemate was immediately broken by Takeshita.

At one point, Takeshita caught Ricochet, but Ospreay dove on both and they all fell down.

The first “this is awesome” chant came after Takeshita hit a DVD of Ospreay on the apron, immediately followed by Ricochet hitting a Meteora on Takeshita.

Fans stomped and clapped after a sequence in which Ospreay, Ricochet and Takeshita traded brutal strikes. Ricochet and Ospreay then teamed up against Takeshita and fans booed even though they teamed up for storyline-driven reasons to get Takeshita a ticket. These fans don’t care about storylines, they just want moves. That’s what AEW trained them to do.

After chants of “fight forever,” a coordinated hurricane roll-up was awkwardly timed, prompting a lukewarm response.

At the match site, Takeshita hit a tombstone on Ricochet through two tables on the outside. This led to a Hidden Blade and a one count on Takeshita, but Ospreay followed with another Hidden Blade. Don Callis, who was on commentary, pulled the referee out of the ring. This revealed a hooded person who hit Ospreay with a screwdriver. Nigel McGuinness spoiled the surprise by saying it was Kyle Fletcher. Takesita won.

Swerve Strickland Returns

Prince Nana promoted his coffee, accidentally called Swerve the ROH World Champion and brought out the perennial AEW World Champion for his exciting homecoming.

Swerve said he still feels a bit of tingling down his neck and through his fingers. All this said, Swerve is medically cleared.

MVP interrupted Swerve next to Shelton Benjamin. MVP continued to sue Swerve as a client, despite Swerve not returning his calls, texts or DMs.

Swerve mentioned his match against MVP in DEFY Wrestling from years ago. The DEFY reference got a huge bang.

Swerve said guys like Shelton Benjamin paved the way for black wrestlers to do what they do. When Swerve teased that he was turning on Prince Nana, fans booed. But when Swerve said he wouldn’t have what he has if it wasn’t for Nana, they blew up.

Swerve said he doesn’t turn his back on anyone, which led to a fight. Lashley didn’t debut yet, but it was a great segment.

Hologram Final The “Beast” Mortos

Mortos and Hologram traded pinfalls during the first two falls. There were a few scary spots where Hologram slipped and landed directly on his head while making marks.

Mortos hit Hologram with a discus lariat where Tony Schiavone said he “literally” knocked Hologram out of his boots. Hologram’s boots stayed on his feet throughout the place.

Hologram moved to 15-0 after a tough spinning Fireman’s Carry Slam.

Darby Allin Final Brody King

AEQW aired a vignette about Darby Allin skating at a skate park and then going to the Tacoma Dome by hitching a ride in the back of a bus.

This crazy Darby Allin agreed to a spot where a weight of 285 lbs. Brody King was walking on a step while Darby lay underneath.

King hit a nasty super German suplex that made the Tacoma Dome cringe. The many forms of Darby Allin’s death wish remain a story in 2024.

After King was bumped on the outside step, Darby Allin hit a Coffin Drop. The Coffin Drop seemed to hurt Darby more than Brody.

The Young Bucks Final. Private party

Before their entrance, there was a vignette in which Amazing Red, Private Party’s trainer, gave them a great pep talk. Red told them to get serious, so Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen laid down the shots, changed their music and danced at ringside.

AEW transitioned to Stokely Hathaway shooting into the crowd. If Private Party loses, it will likely be because of Big Stoke.

After multiple double team moves that led to Private Party’s near falls, the Young Bucks hit a killer Doomsday Device dropkick that caused Private Party to accidentally hit a Poison Rana.

Private Party got kicked out of the EVP Trigger and it looked like they had a legitimate chance to win. After one last glorious victory, the Young Bucks won with a Meltzer Driver.

After the match, there were faint “Private Party” chants as Isiah Kassidy cried.

Mark Briscoe-def. Chris Jericho

Just as Big Bill was about to choke Orange Cassidy through a table, Orange Cassidy came to the rescue and hit Big Bill with a Superman Punch.

Despite the serious undertones of Mark Briscoe fighting for his brother Jay’s honor, Briscoe continued to use comedic karate chops on Jericho.

Bryan Keith looked to cost Jericho the match, but Briscoe kicked out. This brought out Rocky Romero who fought Keith.

Briscoe hit a springboard kick through the table, setting up a frog splash attempt into a Codebreaker. Jericho hit a Jay Driller on Mark Briscoe for a near fall. Briscoe came back to win the match with the Jay Driller.

Mark Briscoe vs. Chris Jericho Grade: B

Jon Moxley Final Bryan Danielson

Jon Moxley attacked Bryan Danielson before he could even get into the ring. Danielson’s “Final Countdown” music continued to play as they began to fight, continuing throughout the chorus and into the second verse. TK would get his money’s worth for this licensed music.

Marina Shafir received huge criticism when she attacked Danielson behind the referee’s back. Fans begged the referee to throw her out, but he can’t punish what he can’t see.

Moxley scratched Danielson on the back and then bit him.

Shafir intervened again late in the match, but was caught red-handed by Bryce Remsburg and thrown out from ringside.

Jon Moxley trapped a defiant Bryan Danielson in a rear naked choke. Danielson fainted and the referee rang the bell. Fans were shocked.

Wheeler Yuta and Darby Allin came to the rescue, but Yuta turned on Allin as the Blackpool Combat Club destroyed Bryan and bagged the AEW World Championship. Excalibur cried as he called the action and the crowd fell silent as Danielson was loaded onto a stretcher. A terrible ending to an extremely long pay-per-view.
