Bears control Jaguars in London

The Jaguars have to surrender to newcomer Caleb Williams and the Bears at halftime in London.

Williams threw a 31-yard touchdown pass into broken coverage to have Chicago ahead of Jacksonville 14-3 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Jacksonville looks to build on its first win of the season against the Colts last week.

Trevor Lawrence got a touchdown throw on third down, dropped in the end zone by Gabe Davis. They settled for a 30-yard field goal from Cam Little to get on the scoreboard. It was a waste of a beautiful drive, a 14-play, 67-yard march that took more than 10 minutes.

Jacksonville has gotten back on defense early. It held Chicago to 7 yards in the first quarter, ranking ninth in first-quarter yards in franchise history. The defense got cut in the first half on a pair of plays, a 31-yard throw from Williams to Cole Kmet, stretching the tight end to a touchdown and a 7-3 lead. But then it rebounded for the first interception of the season, an Andre Cisco pick at the 7 that nearly denied Chicago certain points. It was the Jaguars’ first interception of the season.

Williams bounced back on Chicago’s final drive of the half, including a pair of runs that gobbled up 43 yards and put the Bears within scoring range. He threw a 2-yard touchdown to Kmet with 17 seconds before halftime for the 14-3 lead.
