Steelers release Week 6 inactives vs. Raiders

For the first time this season, Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2) quarterback Russell Wilson is not on the inactive list. Wilson will suit up for Sunday’s Week 6 road game against the Las Vegas Raiders (2-3) and serve as a backup Justin Fields.

Wilson was sidelined for the first five games due to a calf injury he initially suffered on the eve of training camp. He aggravated injury days before the season opener and has been a limited participant in practice since. Wilson was a full participant in practice this week and believes he will have no problem getting up to speed.

“I got all the reps,” Wilson said Thursday. ‘It’s not like I haven’t been there. I got a lot of reps overall this time and everything else, and I have a lot of confidence in our guys, who we are. You guys have seen some of the plays that the guys are making, just a lot of good stuff, so I’m confident in that, and I’m not worried about that part.”

Despite Pittsburgh dropping its last two games, Fields has been largely impressive in Wilson’s place and retains the starting job against Las Vegas. Fields has thrown for 961 yards, five touchdowns and one interception on 67.6% passing.

The Steelers’ pass rush will be short on Sunday. Alex Highsmith (groin) is out for his third game in a row Nick Herbig is out with a hamstring injury.
