The VGK Foundation grows the game throughout the valley with youth hockey clinics

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – Dozens of youth players took over Lorenzi Park’s street hockey rink Saturday after the Vegas Golden Knights Foundation donated $15,000 to host a series of clinics in the valley.

“Not only are we doing something for the kids and their well-being, but we may be creating a new group of hockey players,” said Sallie Dobbler, CEO of the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE.

While these clinics are for everyone, they especially encourage girls to give the sport a try, as the VGK Foundation is also helping the city of Las Vegas establish a girls street hockey league.

“Hockey is not just a boys’ sport, which some people think and some people think it is, and I feel like the sport is for everyone – for boys and girls and for people with disabilities and non-disabled,” said Talya Perez, clinic participant.

The girls’ street hockey competition will start in November.
